Food Swap Registration

August 5th Food Swap, Potluck, and Blueberry Picking at The Croft Farm!

July 21, 2018

Hello, Swappers!

Registration is now CLOSED August 5th swap at the Croft Farm on Sauvie Island. If you’d like to get on the waiting list for this swap, please send us an email at pdxfoodswap@gmail.com.

This is a super special swap, and we are really excited about it. The Croft Farm is a gorgeous farm on Sauvie Island, and they’ve graciously opened their space to us. Before the swap, you are welcome to come pick blueberries on the farm. These blueberries are pesticide-free, and are only $2.50 a lb. (If you’re planning on picking blueberries, make sure to bring your own containers!)

The Swap will take place at our usual time of 4PM, in the barn (pictured below). And, after the swap, we thought it would be fun to hang out and have a little potluck! Bring a snack or drink to share, and let’s hang out and enjoy the beauty of the farm! (Note: there is no kitchen or prep space on site, so bring things that are ready to eat! And bring your own plate/cutlery, as we will not be providing disposables for the potluck.)

Location:
The Croft Farm
14765 NW Gillihan Rd
Portland, OR97231

Blueberry picking: 3:00-4:00PM // Swap: 4:00-5:15PM // Potluck: 5:30-6:30(ish)

What: A Food Swap is part silent auction/part village marketplace/part open house where your homemade creations (breads, preserves, infusions, canned goods, etc.) become your own personal currency for use in swapping with other participants. What better way to diversify your pantry and meet a few new food-minded friends?

Bring an assortment of your homemade edible specialties (and even a few non-edibles, such as: lip balm, soaps, etc.) to exchange for other handcrafted delights. We will provide swapping cards, name tags, and organization for the event. You will be given the opportunity to offer trades in a silent-auction type format, and you will be free to choose which trades to accept for your products. Bring as much or as little as you like; there are no caps or minimums. If you are participating in the potluck, please bring a snack or drink to share. In addition, please bring your own plates/cutlery/glasses. In order to reduce waste, we will not be providing disposable dishes for the potluck!

Who: Pacific Northwesterners {aka the Willamette Valley, the Portland Metro Area, and our Neighbors to the North}.

Please note, this event is family friendly and you are welcome to bring your kiddos. However, we are unable to provide childcare for this event.

Cost: Swap participants will be given free entry; a suggested donation of your hand crafted goods or a small monetary donation to the supply-fund jar helps cover the cost and energy of swap organizers.

RSVP below with your name, contact info, & description of items you plan to trade.

Make sure to register early! For this swap, we are capping the number of swappers at 35 and will maintain a waiting list. The last few swaps have filled up quickly, so make sure to fill out the registration form as soon as possible.

On the day of the swap, please bring your hand crafted goods and arrive promptly at the start time. (If you arrive early, feel free to mill about the farm or pick blueberries. Just know we won’t be ready to start the actual Swap until 4PM!) The first half-hour of the event is dedicated to swapper sign-in, set-up, and samples, and we’ll only begin swapping once everyone’s settled in. Feel free to bring samples of your goods for others to try during the open browsing portion of the swap.
